You know tris, I have questioned myself a hell number of times before as well, as to why we fall in love… Silly I'm not pondering on that retort that we can even rise in it if we want. It’s just why do we want to be in love? See being needed, desired, wanted by someone is a part of the deal for sure. The companionship, care, support is other… But personally I feel it's the danger associated. Not 'danger' danger sweet, but our inherent hunger to covert danger. Don't you see; nothing, just nothing in this whole world can be more dangerous than handing over your whole being to another person as theirs. Your trust, faith, dreams, hopes, expectations n just everything that was ones exclusively yours is now shared, tested, craved. If that's not taking the biggest risk, then I don't know what is… Welllll see for yourself love you are letting in an another person to be a part of your own being and the only thing tying the two of you together are sheerest threads of love, trust, passion, need, respect. And what more these threads in themselves are all too tricky to deal with, one hard pull and they snap. Further some even if tied together after some hard efforts on both sides, they retain a knot all too visible in them forever. And even if somehow you try and not see that knot deliberately, you can’t forget feeling it every time to travel the distance yet again. Then why we still are so eager to take a bet at this gamble called love? Is the lure of the danger and adventure it promises to ones existence is wee too strong to resist n fight? Or it’s that one has something in ones basic make-up only to go for the most edgy thing of all… After all love not only takes you to the edge of every little emotion n its turmoil, but it also enchant ones being in living at the edge itself… And seriously, if that isn’t thrilling enough or adventurous enough or risky enough or dangerous enough than nothing else can ever really be… Guess this precisely is that one bait that has kept generations after generations hooked unto to this enchantingly magical feeling called love…

Good postmortem of the Queen of Emotions called love :) Good study. Nothing to reject in those words. Like everything, love too not separated from the survival instincts. Like selfishness, satisfaction, competition, aggressiveness and sacrifice. It depend person to person and mind to mind as we are masters to manipulate anything in this world.
